I'm trying to catch up on writing TRs for old trips. Summary: Crowded homely squalid sterile lake with mediocre scenery. I don't recommend it. I wouldn't bother reading the rest of this report. Hiked Lost Creek Ridge Trail to Lk Byrne on day 1 Walked down to Kennedy HS 2.0 to admire the remodel and a luxurious soak and camped near Little Siberia on day 2 Hiked back out Lost Ck Ridge on day 3 Stats Elevation: yes Bugs: minimal Humans: None around Lake Byrne until evening of day 2 as I was packing to move camp Distance: around 12 upsy downsy miles each way It had been 5 years since my previous visit (ran into BarbE on that 2009 trip) so I was due for another trip Day 1 Hiked to Lk Byrne and took some evening snapshots

So Kennedy Hot Springs has bubbled back up from the debris? I didn't know that.

Foist and I stopped at Hardtack for our first night. It was about 95 degrees and we couldn't get to Byrne. Thanks for the photos & trip report; up.gif

Thanks Chiwacum for bringing back good memories of that amazing place. Love the night shots, Lake Byrne and the not so hot springs. up.gif

That fish looks massive. How big was it?

It looks like Kennedy HS 2.0 is an improvement over 1.0, with even more tepidness and improved orangeness.

Sorry you had to spend two nights in such a wretched place. This image is particularly appalling.

Great TR! Remembering when we used to take students on the six mile X-C ski for a dip in the springs. Great route for climbing Glacier too. Nice kale smoothy you got there. The lure in that fat cut's mouth is one of my two favorites for high lakes.

Thanks for the good scouting and photo. Obviously it's just a big gully washer with no large boulder field covering the tub as had been reported here. Thanks!

He's even got the Andromeda Galaxy tucked in there. Small smudgy thing at upper right.

I met my wife of 32 years at Kennedy Hot Springs. I have been telling folks that we met at a place that no longer exists. Guess I can't say that anymore. Typical KHS experience: Arrive hot and sweaty on a cool day. Remove clothes, jump in pool. Sublime! Aaaah...five minutes later, you notice that you are feeling a bit chilled. But it still feels good. A few minutes later, and now you are really chilled. Finally acknowledging that you are headed in the wrong direction, you jump out, and before you are dried off you start shivering. Pull on your layers and continue to shiver for the next 10 minutes. So if the pool never gets rebuilt, I am OK with that.
