You should've let your buddy try to catch that "free horse." That could've been comical. Yeah that pic was early June, about a week before the quota system kicked in. It is a clean looking coat. The goats were starting to shed a little bit but were mostly in full winter garb still. And she was definitely relaxed, looked kinda blissed out while she was chewing her cud. She stretched her front legs a few times. I swear I heard her sigh at one point. The goats were hanging out and chillin' right where we were camped, they weren't the slightest bit worried about us. There weren't any newborns in that group (the other picture with the baby twins was lower down in the basin), but several yearlings.

Didn't see any on Thu, but many came out on Fri when there were more people at Robin lakes.

Great shot Kenji. Love the blue sky, and the goat stare.

This year up on Del Monte Ridge
Excuse the bad focus ... it was a quick hand held shot with the tele, even though he was only about 30' away, plus he kept looking around and the wind was blowing. But, at least we were honored with a brief encounter from this friendly boy.

That's a really funny picture of a sleeping goat. What a goofy guy.

He was actually just cooling off briefly as he followed us around .... We were the only ones up there at the time .. when he spotted us from his perch up on the moraine he made a beeline to us ... we were down by the lake .. anyhow he wasn't threatening at all .. a couple of times he got a little too close for comfort .. but I just shooed him away. Anyhow he followed us around every where we went (I got the feeling he was just lonely and inquisitive) and this time when we stopped to set up he just decided to lie down and wait .. it was a very hot day. Anyhow .. he went on to follow us like a puppy .. all the way back to Anderson Pass .. playing hopscotch with us. Sometimes we would get ahead of him while he grazed and then he would catch up and pass us and then wait. As we were getting closer to the pass we decided we really needed to ditch the poor guy because we were camped at Honeymoon Meadows and didn't want him following us all the way down there. So, while we were still on the moraine trail we could see that he was down by the lake at the pass and waiting for us. We stopped and hid in the trees for a good 20 min .. he kept waiting and then maybe thinking that we had passed him or something he finally headed off down the trail towards the Enchanted Valley. When we figured the coast was clear we rushed down to the pass and headed out in the opposite direction to camp .. but watching our backs for the first mile. Anyhow it was a memorable goat encounter and actually our very first. I know others have had less than friendly encounters .. so yeah people still have to understand that they are wild and that we need to respect their space.

That's stalking behavior. I'd have a word with him about that. wink.gif

That's a really cool shot. up.gif I don't think I've ever seen a goat rolling in snow like that.

Hangin out on Wallabee. This one has a horse face so rbuzby's story about a friend thinking he saw a white horse at Alpental makes sense.

Same guy as the last photo. Late at night I heard him walking around - got out and there he was with Black Peak and the Big Dipper under a full moon. Hand-held so it's not too sharp.

And this one because it was visible right from the road above one of the tunnels on Hwy 20 near Gorge Creek Falls (just after Newhalem going east).

this guy looks like he could kick some @$$
I think he is getting his steroids from American Pharoah's dealer

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.
