Isn't it "Ah- Sail" ? From the wiki: Asahel (Hebrew: עשהאל, Greek: ‘Ασαέλ) (also known as Asael, Asaell, and Assael) was the youngest son of Zeruiah, step-daughter of Jesse, daughter of Nahash (which can be inferred from 2 Samuel 17:25). The name means "made by God." Asahel was the nephew of King David, as well as the younger brother of both Joab, David's general, and of Abishai. Asahel is mentioned in 2 Samuel Chapters 2 and 3. Additionally, the name Asahel (under a variant spelling) appears in Aramaic in the Book of Enoch.

His photos may have been a type of social photojournalism. When I look at mountain or landscape pictures I really like to see people in them. That's where a picture starts to tell a story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_documentary_photography

Several years ago, Pacific magazine (an insert to the Sunday Seattle Times, and precursor to Pacific NW magazine) did a feature on Asahel Curtis. According to that article, the correct pronunciation is A-shell.

Did they ever find it? At least that's what I thought at first glance at the title.
