Cowboys and Indians, oh my! paranoid.gif I had a failed attempt on Cowboy back in spring of 2007 when I went impromptu with no route information or snow travel gear. Heather and I had a half-day so we went out to clear that up. I drove to 5220 feet, the top of the Skyline Express lift. We found a nice boot path on the west ridge and were soon on the summit. Quite a different experience than trying to climb the peak in icy snow without an ax.

On the way home we hiked up Heybrook which Heather had never seen before. We also went to the high point which had better views of the Gunn massif.

The next day we started hiking at 5:10am from the Sloan Creek campground. It was nice to be back in the White Pass area again. We randomly crossed paths with 3 thru-hikers bound for Canada and Heather distributed home-made brownies, which she had carried up just for them.

We ascended the west ridge which was open and very scenic. There is a partial boot path here and there. The glacier was heavily crevassed and interesting to observe. We passed the false summit where the register is located and continued on to what Brett Dyson claims to be the true summit (https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=955985), arriving at 1:30pm.

I was skeptical and had carried my GPS to measure both points. I placed the device on the highest rock of each peak and left it there until it settled on one number, only wavering back and forth by a foot or two. My findings were exactly the same as b00's. The east peak is 15 feet higher. We returned to the west peak and signed the register. What a view!

I played around with the idea of going over to Kodak but decided against it in favor of saving it for a future Pilot Ridge trip. We got back down to the car at 7:55pm for a round-trip time of 14.75 hours.

Amazing trip! Indian Head Peak has been on my wishlist ever since we walked by White Pass and Foam Creek. The White River Glacier does not look too pleased with what happened this summer!

I didn't know that was possible. Now to get there before the snow starts falling.

Yeah, I'm bummed that I didn't wander over to the east peak. It wasn't a big deal to just tag both, but I was lazy and enjoying just hanging out. Well, it's not a big deal to just do it again! Might was well. Not now though. I have plans this evening.

Your photos of the Indian Head summit register also has the dogs, Banjo, Emma, Holly as an entry. They were up there several times but have since crossed the bridge.

Nice! White Pass area is beautiful in the summer when it is vibrant green, looks like it's also beautiful in the fall with lots of golden grass. I've been intrigued by Indian Head looking at it from several different vantages, but haven't attempted it thus far.
