I spend a week or two on Marco Island each February. I love it. Just across Caxambas Pass is the Everglades wilderness. I hiked in the Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve and the 10000 Islands. And we take long walks on Tiger Tail beach.
Rookery Bay has some awesome kayaking.
Will be my landing spot when I can't tolerate PNW winters any more.
