In what sense? How would things be different/better without the GMA? How would having suburbs covering the middle fork Snoqualmie valley make traffic congestion in the Mercer Mess better? Or on Front Street in Issaquah and better?

Here are a few facts regarding red light cameras in Wenatchee. There are three cameras in Wenatchee. Are they are a revenue generator? Of course! Every politician in the world knows it's human nature for some people to try to beat the red light so it's a sure bet money will be made. Kind of like a casino. But at the same time, it doesn't seem that long ago that Dr. Tucker was killed by someone running a red light in Wenatchee. So obviously safety is always paramount. They are operated by an out of state company. Can't remember what their cut is. A local police officer does review all video to determine if a violation occurred. There are circumstances that do not warrant a ticket. If you approach an intersection and stop sharply right before it, you will probably see the camera flash. Obviously, no violation. If you are well into the intersection and you see the flash, it is likely someone behind you. Unless you are really hauling tail. If you are one of the guys that gets caught in the intersection because you didn't make sure you could clear the intersection under green, besides being clueless, you are obstructing the intersection, (and pissing off a bunch of other drivers). rant.gif As far as school zones, just slow down. Who knows what the heck the little monsters are going to do? Going 20 for a couple blocks ain't that tough! We actually had a mayoral candidate (failed attempt) argue against a proposal to put them in school zones. His kids probably went to private schools. Yellow light duration, I've always thought they were close to 2 seconds. Whether or not there is a standard, I don't know. Also, Merry Christmas to all and drive carefully. Mark hockeygrin.gif
