I am sad to say that Philip R. Woodhouse, author of the book, Monte Cristo and co-author of six Discovering Washington’s Historic Mines volumes, plus The Everett and Monte Cristo Railway passed away peacefully at his home this morning from a series of stokes.
We have lost another great historian who was a good friend of mine and who worked to keep the heritage of our state preserved and available to those who wanted to know more about it.
I'll post more when the information becomes available.

Sorry to hear of his passing. Growing up in Lake Stevens I was very interested in the area's regional history. The railroad to Monte Cristo went through (or maybe orginated?) in Hartford). Mr. Woodhouse's book" Monte Cristo" was the most complete history of the area out there. A good read and a laudable contribution to the genre.
