I saw on Facebook that Yana was recognized by Snohomish County Sheriff for her rescue work. Congratulations.

By complex I'm sure they mean horific bushwacking. Nobody does it better!

Magellan - nope, no bushwhacking to speak of on this mission (oddly enough). While there is often bushwhacking on SAR missions, none of it has come even close to some of the bushwhacking I have done on recreational trips.
I don't know if it deserves a medal, but it was a pretty cool mission. Not a lot of responders, limited equipment, and the location was... interesting. I'd actually like to go back and look at it in the daylight. It's visible (and very close) off the Pilchuck trail and I've passed it dozens of times... just haven't bothered to study the details. Interestingly enough, there was an old webbing anchor on a horn right at the spot from whence we rescued the subject. Looks like someone climbed a slab/and crack below it. It was unexpected for sure.
We're not allowed to disclose mission details other than what has been picked up by the media but I think I'm okay posting this description since it was read aloud publicly (at the award ceremony):
Lots of other SAR award recipients this year, too. And of course deputies and other SCSO employees. I know and "work" with some pretty amazing folks!

Way to go! She is also qualified to jump into freezing cold water that is cascading over a rocky precipice.
