From Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detektivbyr%C3%A5n I found that the creator of this machine (martin Molin) was part of the band Detektivbyrån (The Detective Agency) which dissolved in 2010. Wintergaten is the name of their new band which will be using the marble machine in its performances.

It appears that using unusual instruments isn't a new thing for them!
