Someone gave me a "good luck crystal" tonight. Later, other people drove me, my previously off leash dog and my two flat tires to town. Then, someone else drove my previously off leash dog and my two no longer flat tires 20 miles up forest service roads and offered me a room in their house for the night. Reading internet forums makes it seem like the world is full of over sensitive assholes. We aren't though. We are nice people that help each other out...

The quality of mercy is not strain'd, It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest; It blesseth him that gives and him that takes: 'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes The throned monarch better than his crown; His sceptre shows the force of temporal power, The attribute to awe and majesty, Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings; But mercy is above this sceptred sway; It is enthroned in the hearts of kings, It is an attribute to God himself; And earthly power doth then show likest God's When mercy seasons justice. William Shakespeare The Merchant of Venice The older I get, the more I respect those who combine intelligence and erudition with gentleness and mercy. Bernardo from the kitchen table. "Forum Vitriol" would be a great name for a super stout IPA.

Much of the vitreol on this forum is caused occasional invasions by trolls (and the alt accounts of trolls) whose only purpose here is to spread their anti-environmental sentiments on stewardship threads. They don't post trip reports or even appear to have any interest in hiking, and appear to come here only to heckle and degrade civil conversation.

up.gif up.gif Lurker Lager, and Sock Puppet Stout too.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

My Gawd! I try to check trail talk and TR's on most days to see what's happening in the hiking sphere. Now I it appears I will have to include FMS also or I might miss the really good stuff.
