We went up to check out snow conditions at Copper Mountain but had no intention of summiting today. The wife (that's me) is a bit of a chicken when it comes to steep snow slopes with bad run out (large bone crushing boulders).
We started from the Mount Ellinor side and worked our way to the interior and up towards Copper. It actually is a bit easier at the moment because the boulder fields are covered in snow and it is quite pretty.
We reached what we called our destination and enjoyed the views - Mount Lincoln, Ellinor, Washington, Sawtooth Range and so much more. If you are handy with your ice axe and crampons might be a good time to go as it appears the summit block is completed melted out. Us....we will wait to tackle the steep scree instead of the steep snow
Beautiful day in the mountains. Oh - and when we arrived back at the trailhead Mr. Ranger was posting tickets on cars that did not have passes.
Mr. Ranger giving out tickets for no permits Copper Mountain - no summit today.. Waving at Copper Mountain
