Besides, who cares if they dump the EU?
I was talking to my brother, who lives in London and is in academia, and he was quite concerned about losing all the avenues of research funding that the EU provided, which he would now have to try and obtain from the UK government. He, and a whole bunch of people in the scientific community at least, are pretty disappointed with the result, so there are plenty of people there who care. It remains to be seen what the long term impact is on the UK, since the work to pick up the pieces begins now, but I can't see it getting back to business as usual anytime soon, if ever.

An interesting bit of fallout I am looking at is the effect on local house prices, which is fueled by the global economy, especially China and India tech workers. We are putting our house on the market in about a month. So we are carefully following "comps" and sales activity lately. It appears, in our area, housing prices dropped significantly, literally overnight, as did the interest in buying coincidentally with Britt EU fiasco. A couple of open houses that would have been a bee hive of activity over a weekend like this, were dead. A double whammy for us, as I am in an early forced retirement with no income, so we were hoping to get some prime cash for our house, and our investments were diversified a bit, but are still taking a hammering, as we were in the process of restructuring allocation around an earlier than expected "retirement". I am hoping the immediate reaction was a short term state of shock, and not a trend. We will definitely be watching it closely.
