Very nice. The colors are really popping out there.

Thanks, everyone, for the compliments and the trip reports that put this area on my radar and pointed out the parts to avoid (I read about that brush bash, RichP!)

the damage looks similar to the Tunnel Creek PCT access road, only you can still drive up that one.
The road is still driveable now (obviously) but there is one section that won't be passable in a car if it gets much narrower. There's a photo of that part in my flickr album. Anyway, it's not too bad of a walk and would be an easy bike ride - less than 2 miles.

Ruby is a good sport!!
Yes, that's an understatement! After one day off (Friday) we ended up going over to the Sawtooths for a long weekend where she climbed Courtney, Star, and Oval and all the talus in between. And learned about porcupines for the first time bawl.gif

I hope Ruby is better about porcupines the next time than for instance I am about too much horseradish on roast beef ! eek.gif My family laughs every time!

Passing rocks and trees like they were standing still

Really nice photos of the area.

It's character building. rolleyes.gif And it doesn't get much better when you reach the trail either, considering that hasn't been maintained for years past the Boulder Creek turnoff.

I was thinking of tackling this one soon but your TR and pictures of the autumn colors has me thinking otherwise! Thank you for pointing me in the direction of this. I appreciate it!
