The road is still driveable now (obviously) but there is one section that won't be passable in a car if it gets much narrower. There's a photo of that part in my flickr album. Anyway, it's not too bad of a walk and would be an easy bike ride - less than 2 miles.

Yes, that's an understatement! After one day off (Friday) we ended up going over to the Sawtooths for a long weekend where she climbed Courtney, Star, and Oval and all the talus in between. And learned about porcupines for the first time
It's character building. And it doesn't get much better when you reach the trail either, considering that hasn't been maintained for years past the Boulder Creek turnoff.
I was thinking of tackling this one soon but your TR and pictures of the autumn colors has me thinking otherwise! Thank you for pointing me in the direction of this. I appreciate it!
