Thorough compilation of information, Eric! For those who like to visit historic sites, a USFS "Wilson Creek Historic District" sign istands alongside Dose Road where it passes Corrigenda RS. It's a short walk up the hillside to the site.

I shared this station with Al Nickelson for part of the summer of '55. I was assigned a pumper truck and patrolled the Rocky Brook Road in search of fires that never happened. It was a wet summer so about half way through the season I was recalled and put on a timber sale layout crew. I worked out of Quilcene when we weren't at a spike camp somewhere out in the woods.
Al liked to hunt in those days and among his arsenal was a 44 S&W revolver. He hand loaded all his ammo, which I helped with while at the station. On one of my days off I was at the station doing some loads when Harold Nyberg, the district ranger, happened by. It was in the middle of the week, so of course he thought I was shirking my patrol duties, and demanded to know why I was doing what I was doing and not out looking for fires. It took some time to convince him that I was really on my own time.
Al and friends loved to target practice off the front porch of the station. He'd set up a target on a fairly large alder down by Wilson Creek. As I recall it was about 100 yards or so from the porch to the creek. We had been shooting at that target most of the summer. As we finished one day and were headed indoors we heard a cracking noise, turned around in time to see the alder falling across the road. Felled by gun fire.
Another pastime was shooting rats at the old Pt. Townsend dump. Not much to do in Quil back in those days.
