Stan Boreson was a local media superstar in the freaky live broadcast children's television scene of the fifties and sixties. He drove a gigantic gold colored Rolls Royce, rocked a wicked accordion, and had the best theme song on tee vee:
Quote:
Zero dacus, mucho cracus / hallaballu-za bub / that’s the secret password that we use down at the club
Stan could just rip and shred with the faux Norwegian. Check out "Scandinavian Hot Shot" from 1957.
Those of us from the east side of the mountains did not have as long running programs like JP Patches, unless you were lucky, lived in Wenatchee, and your folks could afford cable tv. We had Captain Cy and Mr. Wallabee.

This Stan guy looks like he was much more talented and entertaining.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Back in those days there were just local stations and tall broadcasting towers. We got our black and white TV reception from an antennae my Dad put up on the roof. Perhaps 8-10 channels.
I think Stan Boreson was also one of the really good guys in local entertainment.
On the eastside of the mtns, we got 3 channels via antenna. That was it unless you lived in the area where cable was available and wanted to pay for it. We had stations from Spokane that were beamed in off of thingamabobs that I can't remember the name for.
