True. King County and Seattle were fined last November for pollution violations. http://mynorthwest.com/474226/seattle-county-sewage-fines-for-2015/

There are several dozen combined sewer (stormwater and sewage) overflow locations around Lake Washington, the Ship Canal, and Puget Sound. Although much progress has been made to reduce overflows of untreated (but diluted with stormwater) sewage, many of these locations still discharge during heavy rainstorms. Seattle and King County are under a consent decree with EPA to reduced overflow to less than once per year at each location (based on a 5-year rolling average). They have 15-20 years to accomplish this objective. If you live in Seattle and you want to help with this problem, consider installing a rain garden or cistern to reduce peak flows off your roof. Seattle and King County will actually help pay for these installation in some neighborhoods. http://www.seattle.gov/util/EnvironmentConservation/Projects/GreenStormwaterInfrastructure/RainWise/index.htm

Victoria's generous and continuing contribution of nutrients into Puget Sound ecosystem is a large part of what makes our area's marine life flourish, especially clams and oysters.

So government officials get together and force the tax payers to Process rain water like/with sewage. We all saw them tear up the roads when they did it.Now when the system does not work, as predicted by many, they fine the taxpayers, that were forced to comply and pay for it in the first place. This is not holding anybody accountable and the fact that many pretend it does speak volumes.

Imagine if this were a private business--they would be crucified by the media and activists and slapped with every fine and penalty that could possible apply. Instead, it's a government organization and there will be no consequences. up.gif
Uh huh. If it were a private business they would be fined or in many cases made to improve their equipment/performance. Metro could do that. But I doubt they would fine themselves.........who would pay?
