Beautiful! Besides the Olympics there are not many (if any?) places like this without snow right now! Love the details of mushrooms and prints.

So great to see a trip report from you again SHA!
The last time I was up the Bogachiel (quite a few years ago ) we had to ford it to proceed up the trail. Is that still necessary?

Re: Fording the Bogachiel..We went up in the mid-70's, and the trailhead was on the other side, not sure why. Fording the Bogie was somewhat intimidating, but manageable on the way up, but after heavy rains all night, a little more challenging on the way back the next day. Maybe that's why we haven't been back since. Nevertheless, it was an amazing trip up into a very wild and remote area at that time.

Interesting, Hesman! No, it was definately the Bogachiel. We stayed at a shelter about four maybe four and a half miles up the trail. Shared it with two drunk twenty something's who passed out before they could cause any trouble. They also forded the river.
The handful of stories I have shared from that era are just the tip of the iceberg, Sir-Hikes-A lot, I'll try to keep them in check so you don't get jealous.
