"my back is the only thing you are going to see today!" after about a half hour, it felt like i should'nt be so harsh. ya know, it might hurt their feelings to have some 90 year old man kicking their butt up the mountain. so i did what any other nice guy would do, i soothed their egos and let them think that i was slower than them :>)
