We left Seattle at 6am and made it to the parking lot by 8:30 or so. There were already several (40 or so) cars but we got a good spot, geared up, and joined the masses up into the backcountry.
Roads were mostly clear going up
40 people (at least) around 8:30am
Be warned.
It was a great day snowshoeing up to Artist Point and then over to Huntoon Point.
We made a few choices that led us up some steeper paths along the way. I was happy to have my ice axe and my hiking partner got by okay with poles. It was cloudy most of the day so not many great views, but nonetheless a beautiful snowshoe.
Found some coffee and a little pie afterwards .
After hike snack
Also, noticed several weak areas...
Sunglasses would help, even when it's cloudy, the sun reflects off the snow. Round trip was about three and a half hours with quite a bit of stopping and wandering around. A fun day on the mountain =).
Gimpilater and I made the trip up to Mt Ann several years ago and made stops along the way back at Artist Pt and Huntoon Pt. A beautiful area and lots of solitude to be found away from the crowds at the ski resort.
