Hannah, Steve, and I went up the Lower Entiat River Rd. to just past Ardenvoir and hiked up Steliko Canyon using gaiters and microspike's on consolidated snow. It was sunny above the canyon, but dark and cool in the canyon per usual which is an impetus to move quickly and generate some heat before getting on the ridge and it's sunshine. We had smooth travel to our turn off away from the LO and gained the ridge crest proper after which we continued to have good enough consolidation to hike it without the snow shoes which became training weight. Initially nice sunshine with some areas of unsettled looking weather to the West. As we arrived at the High point on the ridge the wind kicked in fast and furious from light to maybe 30 - 40 mph we had plenty of layers and shells so it was of little concern, however we did have lunch on the lower East side of the summit facing East. The return had us facing into the wind so I wore my full face insulated balaclava, several synthetic layers, and my shell for quite a while. The wind actually filled our incoming tracks in a few places. We had some good views back into the Entiat / North Fork Entiat so that was nice. As always.

I have a MH Ghost Whisperer and WM Flight under my shell but the wind was blowing so strong through my open pit zips it inflated the jacket.
