Always looking for a different trip, and a different view I found a ridge that was close to town and traced it up to a highpoint on the N side of Horse Lake Mountain. There the point overlooks the Wenatchee Valley and is benchmarked and seen on the map as "Lake Point", it is a short walk to some recently added concrete benches and North of the parking lot for the trail system which is currently not quite accessible by road due to snow. The route was nice, open, and undulating, but the skies were cloudy to the West and it was a little cool. We saw more than a few groups walking / hiking up the road, to much sprawl, and controlled burning. The road does not open until April 1 and looks like it would make for a good training run right now. I had some huge panos of the valley and surrounding mountains, but can't stomach cities as hiking pics. Good time seeing something different and getting some exercise.
Lake Ridge runs parallel to the Wenatchee River.
Tibbetts
In 1-2 months this will be full of wildflowers.
Big Bend - North Burch Peak - South Burch Peak - Eagle Rock
Hmmmmm, didn't know it was called that. Nice local viewpoint though. Is that the one that has a Mt. bike path going over it down into the Sage Hills area?
No that is the next ridge over, it runs East - West and the trail runs up over it from Sage Hills to the new Horse Lake TH North - South. I looked at an old TOPO map which was probably last updated in the 50's. We started at the very bottom of the ridge and hiked off trail to the Point. The area has changed "massively" in the last 10 years I remember we once parked off Broadview and hiked the ridge just to the South from the bottom all the way over to both Twin Peaks and back.
