A lot has changed on this site in 3 years and I don't really know anybody who has signed up in that time, but for those who are still around prior to 3 years ago, I am happy to announce that Firestar182 and our son are returning to Washington State. We'll be moving to Olympia where she got a job. We are excited to move back home and introduce our son to the Cascade Mountains up.gif Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones!

You won't recognize Seattle anymore but Olympia is likely much the same. You'll be close to the Olympics too!

Wow, Bryan. This is really good news. It was so obvious from your trip reports back East that you were missing the Cascades. Congratulations to your wife on her new job! ~z

Welcome back, Bryan and family!

Never met ya, but I've seen plenty of your videos and trip reports. Welcome back! Somehow, it just feels right.

Thank you everyone!!! We're very excited to return. The end of May cannot arrive soon enough! I'll be making 3 cross country trips as I drive our vehicles to Olympia. Each trip will have some hiking related side trips biggrin.gif

I have always wondered about getting vehicles across the country. I have done several trips back and forth over the years. But that's a lot of wear and tear. Are other options more expensive or not practical? Such as by rail or truck? Surely there must be a service for this sort of thing. I assume you have looked into it and the three cross country drives for some reason make more sense. ? ~z

A good excuse to see a lot of the country.

We've done it by train yeah. I can't really say anything positive or negative about the experience, but it worked. Congratulations on moving back Bryan! I wasn't here when you were actively reporting on Washington, but I've hit a lot of your reports while doing research on hikes. It will be great to see more of those!

You guys are awesome! Thank you! Between the cost of shipping and the delay of vehicle arrivals I'm more than ok to make the drives. My first drive will include the high points of IA and SD. The second trip will be with fellow NWH'er Magellan where we'll make many National Park stops and an alpine lookout in Montana. My final drive will be through Colorado where I plan to stop and hike the Storm King 14 Memorial Trail and hopefully a summit stop too. I'm excited to contribute to NWH again and introduce my son to real hiking 😀
