Is this the right forum to give a heads-up that the federal government might shut down again next week? http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/20/politics/government-shutdown-latest/ I believe that this would close National Parks and some other federal hiking facilities, correct?

Nonetheless anybody planning trips to national parks next week should monitor the situation and be flexible. But national forests do not seem to be affected. Ranger offices might close but they don't close the forest down.

Will they stop bombing people on the other side of the world? Nah. They'll just do their best to punish us peasants for their inability to be useful. They'll hold our public lands hostage while security / surveillance state marches on. The NPS should show up to work anyway and keep them open. They will get all their back pay just like every federal worker did last time. I LOVE government shut downs. Every time it happens, it give me an opportunity to point out how completely unnecessary it is to have a parasitic ruling class controlling us and taking our stuff.

That's why we ask everyone to think about whether their contribution truly adds value to the forum. Because it's easy to derail these kind of threads.

Hmmm, was thinking of a Kalaloch trip. Perhaps not. The weather looks bad anyway.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities
