Devils Backbone 6709' is off the Entiat river road near Stormy Mtn.
I headed over there on Saturday with bigger plans but the incoming weather stopped me at the first summit. I had hoped to hike over towards Fourmile Ridge but that'll be for another trip. I was surprised to be able to drive to 3200', just South of Devils Backbone. Small snow patches stopped me from driving further. It was patchy snow on the road walk. On my map and GPS, it shows a trail heading towards the peak but there was none to be found. It didn't matter as there wasn't much brush and when there was, it was easy to get around.
I put snowshoes on at 5000' and stayed left of the ridge crest towards the peak. Facing the rocky summit, I traversed left until I found a steep couloir to get me to the W ridge. The snow was firm and was an easy walk the rest of the way to the summit. Dark clouds were building to the West as I decided to call it a day.

I found a tick crawling up my leg after I got home, I guess I didn't check good enough after my hike.
7.25 miles
3600' gain

The national Geo map also shows the Entiat Valley Ski Area. That started going back to nature almost 40 years ago. The Devils Backbone gets a lot of Mt. bike traffic when it melts out but still a great area to hike offering views.
The peak to the right ? no wait it's to the left is a USGS named summit known as "Angle" just a high flat spot on the ridge. The whole ridge opens early from the South due to the lack of tree cover. Great views, especially off the three 7k' high points on Four Mile Ridge.
