We still have a few spots open in our North Cascades Trail Skills College May 20-21 in Darrington, WA, if you are looking to learn and hone your trail maintenance skills. The event is put on by the North 350 Blades, part of the PCTA, but is a multi-agency event in conjunction with the US Forest Service and Backcountry Horseman of Washington; anyone who wants to work on trails this summer is welcome to join us. You can come for one day or two. We'll be doing work at Rockport State Park and the old Sauk Mtn. Trail. Registration closes 5/8, let me know if you have any questions! https://www.pcta.org/volunteer/trail-skills-college/north-cascades-trail-skills-college/

Well I just might join! BOth days! Co instructed x-cutting at Bridge of the Gods a few years ago (I didn't do much instructing, though) and would enjoy some brushing up on skills.

The trail college was fun and educational. I was glad to meet Snuffy and reconnect with Token Civilian. the next time this happens, NWHikers should surely attend to find out how to maintain trails and connect with the fine people who are involved with Pacifc Crest Trail Association. cool.gif cool.gif

It was nice to meet you too, Bob! Hopefully I'll see you out on the trail this summer. Searching for a new profile pic now... wink.gif

Thanks go out to all who attended. We hope to see them all out with us or out on various other trail crews in the coming summer. If you haven't been on a trail crew before, consider giving it a try. Given the budget situation currently, and as it has been for the last 10-15 years, without volunteers many trails would have fallen into complete disrepair, or will without continued volunteer maintenance. PCTA, WTA, PNTA, BCHW, etc all have maintenance programs.
