Yep. That's what I was thinking. Plus I wanted to remind folks--unless something happened otherwise. Thanks, ~z

While we are talking about NF 4330, there's this pic from last Fall by BPG. Does anyone know if the mudhole/bog across across NF 4330 situated beyond Scatter Creek ford and before the Paddy Go Pass TH has been filled in or repaired? ~z

Even if it was filled in, there's a good chance it'll be muddy again. I've seen that numerous years, the runoff combined with vehicle use in that particular spot frequently leads to a damaged road in both fall and spring.

Just keep dumping truck loads of quarry spalls in it. It'll firm up eventually.

I'd like to know that too since one of my planned multi-night trips goes out of Cathedral Pass trailhead.

If it doesn't get fixed and or remains closed, it's a 1.8 mile walk to Paddy-Go-Easy Pass Trailhead and a 3.2 mile walk to Cathedral Trailhead

http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report.2017-06-08.4614919315 "Drove to Salmon La Sac area and up road #4330 up 10 miles to Lake Tacquala past Scatter Creek. The road was in the worst condition I have ever seen. One mile before the end of the road and Hyas Lake trail head we saw a traffic cone in the middle of the road and a huge mud hole. Impassable for even my large 4 x 4 3/4 ton truck. I nearly got stuck 2 years ago in that same area after a fall hike. It needs to be fixed! Why can't the forest service do this simple job? We turned back and hike a mile up the Scatter Creek Trail #1328. Good day hike, but we need to get this road issue resolved. So many great hikes up this road, Deep lake, Cathedral Pass, PCT, Hyas Lake, Marmot Lake, Tuck & Robins, to name a few. Please make efforts to find a solution to these ongoing issues of neglect - this was not the way it was 40 years ago, rather just the opposite. Our State and Forrest Service paved the way for some of greatest hiking in the N.W. - and they maintained our rec areas with a great deal of care and support. If you can help - call the proper authority's or let's fix the road through WTA...Help"

That stinks, but glad it's just a mile to the end.

This is the USFS new plan for reducing the heavy usage at Tuck & Robin -- bad roads are the fix for Instagram!

Extremely rutted but drying out. Traffic cone has been there all winter. No barricades. My interpretation... Proceed at your own risk So we did Side road has been established but Forest Service doesn't seem to care as there is no attempt to block it off

Wow, that bypass is really bad form on the part of whoever put it in. That'll take many years to heal, and will be absolutely useless after someone ruts it out after a big rain storm. Even in the world of 4x4 people driving through legal mud bogs, you don't make a bypass around a mud hole in the trail, you turn around if you can't get through.

No argument here. We were looking for a thrill and bounced through the main road. That side road was there last autumn & fall and had obviously gotten a lot of use. The ranger district is doing nothing to discourage folks from using it

Any recent reconnaissance from anybody? I called the Ranger District and they said, "could drive to Boulder Creek about a week and a half ago" Thanks in advance

It has not been filled in or repaired. It will be a deep muddy bog once again. At least it will be entertaining to see the land rovers and beemers try to make it through on their way to trash robin and tuck.
