Yeah! This is a great project that WTA, with pack support from BCHW, has taken the initiative to tackle. The footlog over Royal Creek, a mile above the Upper Dungeness trailhead, has been slowly decaying for years. This is the first footlog or trail bridge anywhere in the Olympics (National Forest or National Park) I know of that is actually being replaced before it fails and collapses into the river!
Many other footlogs are missing, including those on my favorite, the upper South Fork Skokomish Trail. Also the Gold Creek footlog on the Gold Creek Trail, the Lena Creek footlog and others. I hope we can get USFS approval to replace them, too!
