We parked at the north end of DeRoux Campground and hiked the Boulder-DeRoux Trail for ~4 miles... where we left the Boulder-DeRoux Trail and made the short walk over to Gallagher Head Lake.
From the lake (~5600') we could see that the east end of Gallagher Head Ridge looked easier than the west end... so off we went to give it a try... and sure enough, once we got to the ridge (6040') there was an obvious path that led us along the ridge in the direction of Hawkins Thimble... as we eventually reached 6217 feet before being stopped by Class 4 terrain... causing us to retreat... as we traced our steps back off of the ridge... then started working our way 200-400 feet below the ridge in search of a good route that would get us up to the west end of the ridge... where we eventually reached a little saddle (~6400')... leaving a short Class 2/3 scramble to the high point (6447') on the ridge.
11 miles roundtrip, gaining 2844 feet of elevation.
Photos, trailhead directions and downloadable GPS track of our trip to Gallagher Head Ridge.

It surprises me the valley with the lake is so snow free.
