I'm looking for current conditions on Lost Creek Ridge and Lake Byrne. Specifically, snow conditions on the north-facing slopes where the trail crosses to the north side of the ridge around Hardtack Lake, and the melt status of Lake Byrne.
I've dug up some TRs for this area in late July in past years, with greatly varying snow conditions from year to year. We've been eyeing this trip for a long time, but would wait a couple of weeks if there is still significant snow or if the lake is still frozen over.
Many thanks in advance.
We did this 7/15 and there was some snow but easy to cross. Where the trail initially dips 500' to the north however we did stick to the ridge (kinda ugly but manageable) to avoid some steeper looking snow, which was probably not necessary. Byrne is probably mostly melted out by now.
