LOL i thought about wandering over to the Prairie Mtn side to see if there was a view of it. Don't want to get my new car dirty yet. tongue.gif Anyway good news is it looks like any one who may be coming back from a hike can get out. Bad news is its' getting blown towards a larger fuel source.

When looking at the FB link, the Arlington Firefighters also posted that there's a fire on Pilchuck.

Very cool photos: the spared trees look totally unscathed....Is that where buckets of water fell from above? Or are they a more fire-resistant species? Curious.

Yeah, there is a lot of that going around. I don't know why people can't follow the weather. It has been hot and dry all summer. If you must have a fire -- Put it out! I started a four day backpack trip on Thursday, and walked up the Deception Creek trail. My buddies and I came across a smoldering fire that was still hot. The rocks were too hot to touch, and we could feel the heat from the coals several feet away. We ended up pouring gallons of water on it, and stirring the coals until it was out. We noticed that the fire had crept under the rocks, and was spreading slowly across the ground away from the pit. It was early in the day, and with no rain in sight, it was quite possible the fire could have become big. Idiots.

Good catch! That's obviously extremely neglectful, but this burn is a good reminder that even the rainforest/almost rainforest can burn in the summer.
