The Jolly smoke plume was visible from I-90 in Bellevue this afternoon.

Striking image from MODIS satellite. This basemap always shows an image from the current day. The image builds from east to west. Generally the WA part of the image does not show up until mid to late afternoon.

That's why! All the smoke from Jolly is blowing towards Wenatchee. A layer of ash is falling like a light skiff of snow. Air is not good.

Haines index is supposed to be 6 today, my next door neighbor working for the DNR was sounding somewhat concerned about how the Roslyn evac 2 notice would hold when I talked to her last night. She said the humidity isn't coming up at night either like it would normally and this is causing problems. Roslyn got a significant portion of the firewise ring finished around city property on the hill just this summer. Flying embers could still be a major problem but that something is way better than nothing. Since my place is well out of the evac zones I've put the word out to some friends that we're open for landing if they get pushed out. I even cleaned out my two vacant dog kennels yesterday in case we need those. Buckle up, beloved upper county.... frown.gif

We were up on Noble Knob yesterday and today trying to get a view on the Norse Peak Fire. I heard rumors that there may be a new fire burning near Mt Stuart. Has any new info come about concerning this? I snapped this photo yesterday which looks like a smaller fire to the north of Jolly Mountain Fire(last photo in series).. https://imgur.com/gallery/Vnaw7 Edit: I just noticed on the map above that the Fire near Stuart is being tracked.

Perhaps you are referring to this fire reported in this earlier thread. It's east of Scatter Creek Pass and below Jack Ridge. Joey has a map in the link above. It's an older fire that flared up I believe. They are calling it the Jack Creek Fire. Inciweb link is here. ~z

Yeah the air quality is terrible and I think we have more ash accumulation than rain this month, maybe this summer. Treadmills, stair climbers, AMT hiking.

Ellensburg has gone to level 1, in part so they can provide more support. SR 10 would be one way in the event of a evacuation of Ronald/Roslyn and maybe Cle Elum.

Snowing ash in Snoqualmie, too. Unnerving to watch it silently drifting down in the headlights on an otherwise cool and still night.

Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! MODIS indicates fire may have crossed the road at 29 Pines and is staring to burn up Jack Creek. Wishing this is a false positive.
