I wonder if that is in the sacred watershed and if so, they will let firefighters in?

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Don't know if fire fighters have been dispatched yet, but I suspect they will be if not already on this. BTW, volunteer lookouts for KB have been pulled out due to safety.

Via dispatch feed, there is a type 2 team on order. The fire is now 500 acres already. Titled Sawmill Creek Fire.

They are doing a good job in keeping folks informed. Looking at the MODIS feed (and an overflight IR feed) it looks like the fire is burning over in an area with a lot of LOVELY clearcuts between it and the lookout... Not being a knee-jerk reactionary about clearcuts, but I am glad they are where they are right now. That, combined with the sending of resources, AND a wind shift this afternoon, KB may stand tall for a while longer.... https://mappingsupport.com/p/gmap4.php?ll=42.383908,-116.391907&z=6&t=m,MODIS_from_GeoMAC,Fire_perimeter&q=https://propertylinemaps.com/p/public_land_map/USA/USA_wildland_fire_3.txt

We were just up to Kelly Butte--we'd hate to see that lovely lookout burned. It's had so much loving attention!

If you read the text version of wildcad, you will see there are still entries, even this week, describing some of the new fires as abandoned or illegal campfires. The idiocy continues even in these perilous, crispy times. I just don't get it.

now 930 acres and many personnel fighting this to keep it from getting too large. Most of the roads and trails in the area are closed.

Now 1098 acres with 0 containment. Hopefully this afternoons rains will put a damper on this and the other area fires. It is burning away from Kelly Butte ( thankfully) because of the on shore winds now. Come on RAIN!!!!! cool.gif
