smoke-komish :>) 2nd time this year we went to the olympics because noaa did not have smoke in the forecast, only to be inundated in smoke :<( double dip in lake of the angels - once on the way in, once on the way out :>) slow pace. great friends! great day! made some new friends too! we did not use the route info we found, as it did not look as direct or as easy as the route did take. quick and dirty route info: drive hamma hamma road ~12mi to putvin trailhead, hike to lake of the angels, from n side of lake head w up one of many paths to flat area above lake, take ridge to saddle just n of 5945. do a level or slightly rising traverse sw to below the false summit at ~5900' and then do a rising w traverse to reach the summit block area, then ascend n on the s ridge the last few feet - class 2.

10.62mi 5242' gain 5:48 car to summit (including 3:10 car to lake of the angels, 0:39 swimming, 1:59 lake of the angels to summit) 0:30 summit stay 4:16 summit to car (including 1:27 summit to lake of the angels, 0:30 swimming again, 2:19 lake of the angels to car) 10:33 car to car water: a couple of spots on the trail, lake angeles, on the traverse between pt5945 and the skokomish summit equipment: water shoes for swimming :>) equipment brought, but not used: equipment we thought about, but did not bring and glad we did not: ice axe, helmet

Nice route b00, that looks much more pleasant than the bushwhack from Gladys Divide, much quicker too! Too bad about the smoke, the views (as expected) would have been great if only the weather cooperated.
