My personal locator beacon battery will "expire" later this year. I live in Winthrop, WA. Looking for a place to take/mail it for replacement. Any suggestions would be welcome... :-)
Thanks in advance

I had mine replaced by Puget Sound Inflatables. I believe it cost about $100. The service was a quick over and back from Spokane. They also tested the entire unit and sent along a report that indicated my unit was good to go for another six years.

Hi,
Just 3 weeks ago I had Puget Sound Inflatables R&R my battery. Dropped it off on a Thursday, Picked it up on Tuesday. Comes with a test results document as well.

If you are comfortable with changing the battery yourself chances are you could find a YouTube video that would show you how.
If I did that I would want some way to make sure it is working afterwards. I am not familiar with the unit. Is there a way to check that it is operating properly?

I hadn't realized we no longer have to send these things to the manufacturer (in Florida) for battery replacement. However, there doesn't seem to be a battery service provider in the Portland area. Still, Seattle is a lot closer than Florida!

If you use your PLB, you'd want to replace the battery. I don't know about the resetting part, but if you had an official battery replacement done, they'd do the testing.
If you've got an ACR beacon and use it in a rescue, you can join their Survivor Club and get a free replacement plb, as well as having your old one mounted on a plaque:
