A friend of mine was there a week ago and said that a slide had blocked the road 8 miles from the TH. Check with the USFS Naches RS. It should be online under trails and roads.

Road is blocked 6 miles in. The actual washout is another 5 1/2 to 6 miles up the road but a spot a mile looks like it could slide off thus the closure being where it is. I was kind of torqued at the location of the closure until I saw the condition of the road a mile in. Supposedly will be fixed next year.

I thought this was covered in at least one previous thread. The road has no chance of opening this year and probably next! If you own a road construction company and want to donate materials, equipment and labor, talk to the USFS, work through the environmental stuff and come up with a plan. The Herke family has to be talking to the USFS. Otherwise I've heard nothing.

Anything new on this? An update from a year ago on the FS page says it is scheduled to be fixed this summer (2018), but I'm wondering if that's really happening. https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/okawen/alerts-notices/?aid=40346

Is the six-miles of road "bike-able"? It looks pretty flat on the topo

The slide looked extremely difficult to get around, even on foot.

By the time I got to it last summer, horsepeople had trailed around it-it was walkable. I imagine you can push a bike around on that trail.
