Closure: Tradition Lake Access Road/Parking Lot
The Tradition Lake trailhead access road (Southeast 79th Street) and parking lot will be closed from Oct. 30-Nov. 3 while crews pave the area.
The road and parking lot will then re-open, with limited access, for several days as crews finish the project. The schedule is weather dependent.
The City of Issaquah is partnering with Mountains to Sound Greenway and Washington State Department of Natural Resources on this project, which will improve user access to this popular trailhead, and reduce costly maintenance needs.
The $300,000 project was funded thanks to an appropriation from the state legislature, and the efforts of Sen. Mark Mullet.
That access road has always mystified me. I've driven it soon after regrading, and it was smooth as a baby's butt. Then only a couple weeks later, the Subaru-eating potholes were back. I'm curious if the road will behave itself after paving.
In the long term the project will more than pay for itself. That gravel road is prone to washouts, potholing and washboarding.
