I was out hiking on the Montana/Idaho border recently and parked my car beside a remote FS road to get ready to bag a peak. I see a couple setting up camp nearby and we chatted a bit. It turns out they were thru hiking the 995 mile trail that starts on the Nev border and goes to Canada. They were about to embark on a 50-mile road walk section the following day but had come out of some deep wilderness crossing both the Selway Bitterroot and Frank Church. I've heard of the trail but never met anyone doing it.

Not as glamorous and well trodden (bucket listy) as the PCT, but looks pretty interesting all the same. Logistics look challenging and according to this article, it could use some help.

I've hiked sections of the ICT in North Idaho. On one section I hiked from the TH for Fault Lake/Hunt Peak and then over to the Eastshore Road on the east side of Priest Lake. Another section on the PNW Trail from Pyramid/Ball Lakes TH over to the confluence of the PNW with the ICT and then on up along the north side of Upper Priest to American Falls. I saw absolutely not another person from the Fault Lake TH to Priest Lake and no one from Pyramid Ball Lakes until I got to Upper Priest Lake. I would never attempt the ICT in its entirety nor would I attempt the PNW in its entirety. I spent a good deal of time wandering lost using GPS to relocate the trails. Certainly nothing like the "highway" that is the PCT.
