There were no palm trees at Cougar Mountain, but the air was so warm and muggy last Wednesday, I felt like I was taking a hike on Oahu. To take advantage of the afternoon break in the rainfall, I headed out to Cougar Mountain to do the Three Waterfalls Loop, one of my favorite hikes there.
From Red Town Trailhead, I first headed to Coal Creek Falls. I was overdressed for the weather at first (it was cloudy and looked like it should be freezing cold) and soon was shedding various pieces of outerwear until I was down to a t-shirt. Coal Creek Falls was running nicely:

Next stop was Doughty Falls, accessed by various quiet trails. It also featured a good flow of water from the recent heavy rains:

The last of the waterfall trio to visit was Far Country Falls:

I had to climb past the fence a bit to get a good picture of this one.
From there I headed back to Red Town Trailhead, while enjoying the strangely warm gusts of air. I could almost smell the Hawaiian pineapple farms! The loop is about 4.5 mile, perfect for a pre-turkey day calorie burn.
