The days are getting short for long drives to get to hikes but the lure of some sunshine kept us moving east away from the pea soup fog and icy roads around Snoqualmie Pass. It's always worth the trip over to Cleman Mtn, an area I've come to appreciate very much.
Brucester and I started up the west rim of the canyon soon after passing through the wildlife gate at the small parking area for Waterworks.
Waterworks Canyon entrance. Up the west rim. Waterworks. Bighorns. The ridge separating Sanford and Waterworks Canyons. Almost to Naches Benchmark, 4924.' Ridge road on Cleman.
We made it to the ridge top at 4900' and turned east for the walk down the ridge separating Meystre and Waterworks canyons.
Walking the ridge top to the east rim of Waterworks Canyon. Down the ridge separating Waterworks and Meystre Canyons. Point 3582 below. Upper Waterworks.
We walked down the ridge to Point 3582 where a good trail drops steeply back to the parking area.
On Point 3582 with long shadows. Naches, Wa. Action Jackson.
7.5 miles and 3600' of gain.

Nice to see that beautiful blue sky. Are there wildflowers up there in the spring?

Some spring shots of the same area on May 3 of this year. Flowers are popping after mid-March but the rattlers start to wake up then too though I've never seen one in my 5 hikes here.
The ridge I will ascend. Many flowers at the trailhead for Waterworks Canyon. Balsamroot. I left the canyon and am walking the west rim of Waterworks.

Did you hear any shots from the south? I saw hikers up there on Wednesday morning looking across the valley. I knew I that someone would be in that area with how popular it is becoming with west siders, so I went to another place. I don't think the majority likes it when I'm hunting up there even when I show up first.
Have I offended you today?

I heard a couple of shots from the south. Two trucks were on top but it was quiet up there.
Two hikers in the canyon? The place is overrun. I did see someone else in the distance on the east side of Meystre.

Looks like one of your favorite areas. Great shades of earth and sky photos.
