Woohoo! By the solstice, the sunset will be later by 3 minutes. The later sunset time starts getting noticeable around New Years, when it has gained 10 minutes.
I'd like to see the sun stay down there at the bottom of the Southern Hemisphere for another few months. It can start to return in May, then beat it back down on June 22 as usual.
I love this time of year, with its long nights and brief days.
It was late in December, the sky turned to snow
All round the day was going down slow
Nights like a river beginning to flow
