thanks all. he had a good run. they didn't want to give him back to me after they needled him up - some BS about a city ordinance - it's okay to toss your dead pet into the trash can, but it's not okay to bury it in your yard. remaining true to form, I didn't equivocate about my opinion of their "ordinance". Mister Kitty is several feet below grade out in my back yard.

Good for you. I know of an area, belonging to friends that now has two of my good old dogs (one is The Used Dog) buried along with their good old dogs and the ashes of a good old human. Pets are here for such a short time but they can sure improve our lives during that time.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Bummer Ski, sorry to see this. Glad you were able to give him a dignified resting place.

Mister Kitty was a lucky boy indeed. Not all kitties are honored after they pass on. That he was means he did a good job in life; he made you happy. It's what they're here for (and vice versa). They are a gift.

I can never understand doing that to a being that you loved. I buried my first two dogs (and have been sorry about it for years) in my parents backyard. The place was sold years ago. So I had the following nineteen dogs cremated. Problem is (if you can call it that) is I have yet to do anything with any of their ashes. So at this point I have nineteen wood box urns with ashes and name plates.
