There are providers that use the Verizon network without the Verizon price tag. Best of both worlds, unless you like contracts. Page Plus is one.
Use Red Pocket myself. $10 plus 0.21 tax per month for 500 minutes, 500 texts and 500 Mb data. Calls and text way more than I need and have not so far gone over on data.
