While at the same time adding whimsy and fun to the park experience. For a fee, let sponsors put one of these at every scenic viewpoint with a "this view brought to you by......." on the frame: https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/12/19/571888588/city-puts-up-big-blue-frame-and-removes-it-after-citizens-put-up-a-fight

That article has nothing to do with corporate sponsors or national parks but whatever works you up into a frenzy is none of my business

Makes you wonder what else that hot shot Marketing department has up its sleeve. eek.gif I like the sample santa picture where they show it in use. The people are standing in front of the frame instead of behind it, which doesn't even get the effect they are looking for. Gawd knows what other misuses it would get if it had stayed in place. I think the reference to this was to show a potential "slippery slope" situation and point out how they should be stopped. Soon corporate sponsored frames would be showing up all over, if this had worked out. On the other hand, maybe putting a real slippery slope behind the sign could have cleaned up a lot of tourist issues. lol.gif

Stupider than the cave ridge phone booth and not even ironic, but I do not see tie to corporate ads. Garden of the Gods needs no improvement.

i've seen stuff like this in city parks. "bigevent" comes to city. city puts up "sillysculptureassociatedwithbigevent" in city parks. there's no money changing hand for the sculpture. not even the normal 'take over a space for a period of time' fee. advertisement in city parks is disallowed, thus why it's an implied (but obvious!) association instead of an explicit one. but someone somewhere is either getting something directly, or indirectly--"bigevent sponsor" is happy and might come back, or had been promised this before coming or whatnot. but it won't solve the national park funding issue if it's done that way! 'view brought to you by bigco' and bigco won't even pay anything...

Actually I'm not feeling the least bit frenzied, just a little whimsical. How about yourself? You seem a bit uptight. Are you taking your meds?
