After a long stretch of mediocre seasons, they finally look quite good again. I watched part of a game in early season in which they looked very poor and kind of ignored them. Then yesterday I watched the Huskies play Arizona. It was a terrific game that they won over 9th ranked Arizona. They have pretty good talent and put out a lot of effort in the win. They are apparently 17 and 6 and have one all seven of their games that were decided by 5 points or less. Their new energy makes them look like they are a very good team. Dickerson dominated the inside against two very tall players; one of which is likely to be next year's top draft choice.
Coaching matters apparently. This is largely the same team as last year that was fairly terrible. New coach, new dedication to defense and working hard, huge turnaround on the court.
The men's and women's teams have both done a 180. The women had a nice run the last 3 or 4 years but lost pretty much every contributor from last year's team and the coach. They finished tied for 2nd in the conference last year. W/ today's loss, they just about cemented last place in the conference, they only have 1 win. They play hard and they've been close several times, but they have very little talent, just can't match up w/ conference foes. The coach that left did a terrible job recruiting the last 3 years. It finally caught up w/ the team but he was already gone elsewhere and didn't have to deal w/ the result.
Uh oh gb, you jinxed them. They got destroyed by Oregon on Thursday and tonight were on the other end of a buzzer beating game winning 3 pointer. Lost to Oregon St. in double over time 97-94.
