 Nice article; thanks for posting it.
Personally, I'm not much for nostalgia. I want the Poles to be successful (although I think they won't be, at least this year). There will always be a next big challenge.

Hard to tell for sure, but the leader seems to have dealt well with a difficult situation.
He reacted calmly and professionally when one of his climbers marched up the mountain on his own, and then regrouped the remaining team to salvage the expedition. Strange situation. May be more to the story. Interesting read.
