Sad. I believe a number of NWHikers knew Adam personally.

Gnomee - it was not Jason, but it was a friend and skiing partner of his. Still "aw crap," but just wanting to get that straight
My deepest condolences to Jason and all who knew Adam. Sounds like he had a great spirit and would have been someone I'd have loved to have had the opportunity to meet.

I am sad for his parents. They are nice people. They will have lots of support.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

I ran into Adam a couple times on tours. He was very friendly and enthusiastic, a true mountain lover and a damn fine skier. RIP Adam.

"Roberts’ death is the first avalanche fatality of the season in the Pacific Northwest and the third in the country, Ferber said.
Last season, three people died in avalanches in Washington state."
Oh God...He's a cold statistic now.
To make him human again, could someone flesh in the person for us? Who he was, where he worked, what he liked to do, some of his thoughts?

This video has been going around. Sounds like he had the courage to live the way many of us can only dream about.

RichP...thank-you for the film. It puts his life into perspective...living knowledgeably in his world by his choice and education. What happened was random and a risk in his chosen world. His words about everyday driving an hour to work...I wish I could get my wife to understand...but that's my failure. His life/choice stands in contradistinction to that of Chandless (Into the wild), where that loss was idiocracy, and ignorance, and stupidity (and possibly mental illness), that should not have been raised to heroism via a movie. Maybe Adam deserves at least a short biography to show the difference.

Very sorry Jason for your loss. Some friends leave too soon. Those that weren't with you in the mountains will never fully understand the bond and what it is you've lost. When I'm out there I call for my lost friends and ask them why they left because their presence is so strong in the mountains.
