The put in 4 handicapped spots at the parking spot. Total 5 if you include the one near HoneyBucket.

I'm all for handicap accessibility, but this seems on-par with the wheelchair accessible outhouse at Muir. One or two, sure. But five at an already overcrowded trailhead...and built at overtime rates on a Saturday?? DNR= off the rails.

They were there on Fri. Looks like more revenue for the $5 parking across the street which has safer access and is easier to maneuver.

Wasn't there another one opposite the one near the honey bucket?
If that is the case...then the count goes up to 6.

The Chirico trailhead, parking lot and para-glider landing field are on King County Parks property. This is part of the Squak Mt./Tiger Mt. Corridor. So any work in the parking lot to add handicapped parking spots would have been King County.

Handicap parking spots really helped me after all my right leg surgeries--but then maybe you've been lucky and never needed them. Not yet, anyway.

Which trailhead had these spots that helped you out after the surgery in the past?
If you ever have knee surgery again, hopefully not, you now have 4 spots to pick
from at PPP parking lot.

Is this real? Why does a trailhead need that much handicapped parking? The spot that was there never has anyone in it anyway. Its a trailhead. Handicapped people don't go there much. Creating 4 new wasted spaces will screw over dozens of people every weekend. Another egregious example of incompetent local government.

PPP is also the landing area for paragliders, people often park there to watch or greet family members and friends.

There are very rarely handicapped folks there, much less so that they would overfill the space already allocated. Whereas the rest of the parking lot is full very often, even the pay lot across the street sometimes. So they are screwing over normal folks many times to help handicapped folks very rarely.

Interesting. I'm curious where you're data is coming from on the number of handicapped vs "normal" people there.
Mal is right. Many people and families enjoy recreating at the launch spot as specatators, and don't do the hike. It's not just a trailhead.

Another egregious example of government being slandered, above.
Handicapped versus normal? A sick perspective, typical of the mindset of government bashers.

Ok, so it sounds offensive, but shouldn't handicapped parking be matched to demand?
