A couple of days ago I visited the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and looked magnificent in the sunny conditions. Despite that, a stiff and chilly breeze made photography a challenge, but I always seem to get unlucky with the wind there, so it was par for the course.

Thanks everyone. smile.gif The cherry blossoms were so vibrant that I wanted my photos to be as reflective of this as I could make them. In all I made 3.5 circuits of the Tidal Basin, one of which included a side trip to the National Mall. On each circuit I sought out those areas in which the blossoms were lit by sunlight. I hope the photos came out as cheerful as I intended them to be.

Wow great photos - I definitely couldn't tell that the wind affected them

Mr. Lincoln looks pleased.

It is as though I had read a divine text, written into the world itself, not with letters but rather with essential objects, saying: Man, stretch thy reason hither, so thou mayest comprehend these things. Johannes Kepler

I generally tried to keep my shutter speed to 1/50sec or faster, and even then waited for the wind to be a little less vigorous before shooting. They only real exception was #24, where I was able to get away with a shutter speed of 1/4sec due to slightly calmer conditions.

I love that sculpture. I think there are complex expressions captured there. I suggest you focus on the nervously clenched left fist and then look at Lincoln's face once more. Instead of a pleased expression, you will see someone with the cares of a nation on his shoulders and holding back doubt. At least that's what I see.
