I noticed that the Olympic National Forest has an online trail register. Not many reports. They say they'll post the reports every couple weeks (current report). It looks like they're using the reports on their current conditions page.

Yeah, they did away with the paper trail registers a couple of years ago or something like that. I must be a luddite because I prefer the old trail registers. I found it interesting to peruse them and see where people were from. At the Mt. Townsend trailhead I could check how many times the guy from Bainbridge Island had hiked the trail the previous week. I know I should post reports online but usually forget to.

They post twice a month? What?#%! I wish the FS and other agencies could provide better conditions updates online. I suspect that they have a lot of great information.

Not many people seem to submit reports to their Online Trail Register, I've been posting to it for ~1.5 years. It's pretty useful when the ONF folks update it, especially in the fall and spring, when you can find out about the conditions getting to the THs, but the updates don't seem to happen that frequently (I can't tell if its a dearth of reports, or just a lower priority task). Its nice to see some of my TRs for different trails used for the current conditions status reports (though some are quite old now).
