Two friends and I were looking to do a 1-way hike from Rainy/Maple Pass to Cascade pass in early August in the N Cascades. We're hoping to leave our car at Cascade Pass and then catch a ride over to the Rainy Pass area from there. The plan is to hike to through Maple Pass, X-country through Last Chance Pass before hooking up with the North Fork Bridge trail, and then eventually making our way to Cascade Pass via Upper Stehekin. We're aware of Classic Mountain Cabby, but it's a haul for them from Twisp. We were wondering if anyone knows of any other options or is interested in doing it themselves. We'd of course be willing to pay someone if they are interested. Let me know if you are, or if you have suggestions.
You could hitchhike that option. It is just timing. Lots of people coming down Cascade Pass that are hikers. Then the ride back to Maple Pass trailhead...on highway 20. Just hold out a sign that says you are a hiker wanting to get back to Rainy Pass. Key is to look like an "outdoorsy person" to get a ride from fellow "outdoorsy people" I have given ride to many "outdoorsy looking people" and I have received rides because I believe I have looked the part too.
Curious why with three people you can't just arrange your own shuttle. Takes all the uncertainty out of it and you can time your trip exactly the way you wish.
Thanks for the tips everyone. Basically, it boils down to my friends and I being poor/cheap, and I was curious to see if there were more affordable/better options than the Twisp shuttle.
re-post your question a week or so before the trip, and someone might be willing to help you from MRBL to RP. //// leaving your car in MRBL is most logical way.
